Super Starch = Super Power

If you're an endurance athlete I highly recommend trying Generation UCAN as your fuel of choice.  I’ve been using this product for several months now and am pretty amazed by it.  Here are some reasons why:

1. This powder-based product simply involves one packet and about 12-14 oz of water.  20-30 min later you're out the door and fueled up.  No more waking up extra early to eat and waiting hours to digest.  

2.  With the key ingredient being a complex carbohydrate, energy is released consistently over an extended period of time.  There is no HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) or other added sugars so one doesn’t experience energy highs and lows. 

3.  Low GI distress due to low refined carbohydrate content

4.  Increased metabolic efficiency.  Superstarch facilitates increased fat burn to use as a source of energy thus sparing glycogen stores.  This means you can rely less on other supplements to provide calories and stave off energy depletion longer.  

5.  Personally, on one packet of UCAN I can run for three plus hours at 50% of max without eating anything. 

6.  If exercising for prolonged periods of time, one can mix the powder in a gel flask or water bottle to refuel. 

7.  Can be mixed into smoothies for any meal.   Plenty of recipes on the UCAN website or you can create some yourself. 

8.  You can mix the powder and water with their blender bottle or you can just use something that you already have.  The blender bottle is useful because it contains a mini wisk ball that helps to mix the liquid powder.  (And you definitely want it to be mixed up well otherwise it tastes really grainy).

The only real downside to this product is that it takes awhile to get used to its taste and texture.  It’s not sweet like other products on the market, i.e. Gatorade and it’s a tad chalky.  My favorite flavors so far have been protein enhanced chocolate and lemonade.
